Well, what do we think about the Conservative target to have every child reading by the age of six? Are we a little bit worried that such a target may not be appropriate for every child? Personally I would hope that children are not going to be placed under any pressure to meet such a target, which could make some children feel bad about themselves and their abilities and lock them into a cycle of failure. Myself, I would prefer to see targets at this age orientated towards self confidence, exploration, resilience, persistence and creativity- the skills that set children up for a lifetime of excited, confident learning. What do you think?
